If you’re getting sick or if you’re already sick think twice about the exercises you do. Some exercises, or exercise modalities, can actually boost your immunity while others can depress your immunity. Please take the following into consideration and be sure to check out the info-graphic taken from PrecisionNutrition.com. Don’t forget to hydrate!
Think intensity!
Keep the intensity down when you’re under the weather. A moderate walk/run can be beneficial, avoid anything too taxing on your body; no sprint intervals when you’re sick!
Think time!
Keep your work out time less than an hour, again if you’re taxing your body you will be doing more harm than good. You shouldn’t feel exhausted after your work out, your body needs energy to fight off whatever is making you feel sick.
Think fresh air!
Unless you’re suffering from allergies you should get your butt outdoors and take advantage of the fresh air.
Please be respectful.
When you’re sick, please take the health of others around you into consideration. Don’t go to the gym if you’re sneezing and your nose is running away from you, this just leads to spreading your germs to everyone at the gym and you look like a real a-hole. Stay out of the gym and get outdoors!
